An event that dates back more than 100 years, Jersey's 'battle' began when the Coronation of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra was celebrated by elaborate exhibits adorned with flowers. The festivities spontaneously ended with spectators ripping the flowers off the displays and bombarding their friends, a tradition that continues. Today, the "battle" takes place between numerous flower floats that are carefully crafted for months, and explode with colour and creativity.
